Breaking the Coupon Code

It's no secret that online shopping is growing at an amazing rate. The web offers many shopping tools and secrets that allow a savvy and patient shopper to almost always find what they are looking for at the best price available. The internet has redefined the way we shop in ways that are to numerous to count, but how many shoppers are taking full advantage?

While I was setting up my discount shopping website Bargain Bookmark, I talked to a lot of friends and family about online shopping tendencies.  During my research I was amazed to find out that though a large percentage of my friends and family were online shoppers, most had never heard of coupon and discount websites. Most of them knew that a coupon codes provided discounts, but they had no idea how to get one. When I told them there are websites that provided coupon codes for hundreds of online stores and products, they did not want to believe me. It took some convincing, but now none of them will complete an online order without first searching for a coupon code.

The simple fact that most of my friends and family were not using coupon codes, made me think that most online shoppers are still not using codes. If you're still reading this post you must want to know how to get coupon codes. The next time you get to the place in an online order that asks for a coupon code, promo code, discount code, or whatever that site might be calling them, follow these steps:

1. Do a web search using name of the online store you are at and the words coupon code (ex. Shoes.com coupon codes)
2. Your web search likely will return several coupon websites that may have a coupon code for you. Search a couple of these sites until you find a valid coupon code. Sometimes you can find codes with better discounts if you keep looking, but since most of these sites will have the same coupon code, don't spend all day looking. If you can't find a code their might not be one available at that time. Coupon codes do expire and they can seasonal, so maybe you'll find one the next time you order from that store.
